Why would Tyreek want out?

Out of all the crazy things that have happened this offseason, The Chiefs trading Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins was likely the most surprising move. Before the reports came out this morning about Tyreek wanting out there had been zero speculation about him leaving the Chiefs. This is likely because there really has not been any reason to want out. Unless anything drastically changes, the Chiefs seem to be contenders for at least the next five years. For a receiver like Tyreek, there is nobody you would rather play with than Patrick Mahomes. If everything is near perfect football wise for Tyreek why would he want out. The answer to that is because this is simply a business decision. Although players love winning the two things they like more than that are money, and being in a big city. Tyreek has already gotten his ring and is at a point in his career where he is just going to follow the money. Him becoming the highest payed receiver and being in a city like Miami makes up for the fact that he will be a wildcard contending team. Hill's contract would not have been up to next year so he could have played this year out and then negotiated a contract with the Chiefs but they could not have matched this unworldly contract that he has been given by the Dolphins.

What this means for the Dolphins

The Dolphins trading for Hill is officially giving Tua no excuses. While yes, they gave up a 1rst rounder, 2nd rounder, two 4th, two 6th, and 120 million dollars it may be worth it. Tyreek Hill helps an offense as much as a receiver can. Having the fastest player ever on your team is an advantage that everyone wants. For third year quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, there will be no more excuses. He will now have great weapons at the receiver position with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. In what seems to be a make or break year Tua should succeed. New head coach Mike McDaniel wanted a player like Tyreek for a reason. He spent last year turning Deebo Samuel into a top five receiver with an unusual scheme and a below average quarterback. I would assume he does a similar thing with Hill, where he uses his speed more horizontally as opposed to vertically like he's used to. If Deebo was able to do what he did with Garappolo, then Hill should be fine with Tua. Hill may receive less 40 yard bombs but his speed will still be utilized. This offense might feel similar to Tua's Alabama offense with a speedy receiving core who were getting a lot of RPO’s and quick hitters to let their speedsters go to work. Tua may be limited but he is capable of running this offense. Assuming this trade works out I would estimate the Dolphins to be a team that barely misses the playoffs. Although they may have higher hopes, getting Hill at least makes them an exciting team and when you have a player like him the game is never over.

How this affects the Chiefs

With Mahomes' favorite receiver leaving town, this leaves the Chiefs in a tough spot. Since Mahomes has become a starter in 2018 Hill has caught almost five thousand yards and it's fair to say they were a top tier duo in the NFL. With his absence, Mahomes is really going to have to step up. Recent acquisition JuJu Smith-Schuster will be one of the players put to the test the most. He just signed a one year prove it deal and although he likely signed it to be beside Hill, things change and now he has to step up. Other guys like Byron Pringle and Mecole Hardman should also expect an increase in snaps and will have pressure to be legit role players. It really hurts the Chiefs more to lose Hill this year considering all the activity in their division, whether it's Wilson to the Broncos, Devante to the Raiders, or the Chargers defense adding tons of talent. This is truly the season that Mahomes can prove he is the best quarterback in the league and he can show that he wasn't carried by his stacked offense. Honestly because of the storyline I like the idea of Mahomes having a great year and winning MVP to show everyone that he is the reason for K.C. 's success and not his weapons. Considering they have a very tough schedule this year I doubt they are a top two seed and would assume they are somewhere between 3-7.
