The 2023 NFL Combine saw some of the top quarterback prospects showcase their skills in front of scouts, TV cameras, and thousands of fans inside Lucas Oil Stadium. While Bryce Young was absent, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson, Will Levis, and Stetson Bennett stole the show with their performances.

Combine Winners

Anthony Richardson

Anthony Richardson, the quarterback from the University of Florida, had a remarkable display of athleticism at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. He excelled in the 40-yard dash, broad jump, and vertical jump, achieving near-perfect scores. Richardson's speed and agility were evident as he ran the 40-yard dash in just 4.44 seconds, the fourth-fastest time in NFL Combine history among quarterbacks. He possesses an imposing figure on the field with his measurements of over 6-foot-4 and 244 pounds, while his natural arm talent was evident during the throwing drills as he showed accuracy, arm strength, and the ability to make all the necessary throws. Richardson's impressive performance at the combine has increased his draft stock and I'd expect him to possibly sneak into the top 10. He is known for his football IQ, leadership, and work ethic, making him a valuable asset to any NFL team. Richardson has demonstrated a willingness to improve his footwork and decision-making skills, which will only enhance his ability to succeed at the next level.

C.J. Stroud

CJ Stroud, the Ohio State quarterback, did not participate in the athletic testing at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. However, he impressed scouts and analysts during a throwing session in Indianapolis, showcasing his natural arm talent and precision on his throws. Stroud is known for his accuracy, anticipation, and ability to manipulate defenses, making him a potential franchise quarterback. While his size and athleticism have been questioned in the past, Stroud has stated his intention to demonstrate his full range of abilities during Ohio State's pro day on March 22. His decision to focus on his throwing mechanics and accuracy rather than his athleticism at the combine shows his dedication to improving his game and his ability to adapt to different situations. Stroud's performance at the combine has generated interest from several NFL teams, including the Indianapolis Colts, who are interested in acquiring a quarterback who can create offense outside of structure. Overall, CJ Stroud's performance at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine may not have been flashy, but his skill set, work ethic, and potential make him a strong prospect for any team looking for a franchise quarterback.

Stetson Bennett

Stetson Bennett IV's performance at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine was impressive, and he demonstrated his potential as an NFL quarterback. Despite his size and lack of athleticism, Bennett performed well in the 40-yard dash, completing it in 4.67 seconds, which was faster than the average time for quarterbacks at the combine. During throwing drills, he showcased his arm strength and accuracy, making all the necessary throws with ease. Although some scouts have questioned his size and athleticism, Bennett's performance at the combine proves that he has the necessary skills to succeed at the next level. His fourth-place finish in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2022 also demonstrates his ability to perform under pressure and succeed against top competition. While some mock drafts project Bennett as a Day 3 draft pick, his performance at the combine has generated buzz among NFL teams, and he may be taken earlier than expected. Bennett's willingness to take responsibility for his past mistakes, including his recent arrest for public intoxication, also demonstrates his maturity and professionalism, qualities that will be valued by NFL teams. Overall, Stetson Bennett IV had a good showing at the combine and has proven that he has what it takes to become a successful NFL quarterback.

Will Levis

Will Levis, the Kentucky quarterback, had a solid performance at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. Levis displayed his physical attributes, measuring 6'3" and weighing 232 pounds, with an arm span of over 80 inches. He also showcased his impressive athleticism by running the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds. Levis impressed scouts with his arm strength and accuracy during throwing drills, demonstrating his versatility and potential as an NFL quarterback. He can make all the necessary throws, including deep balls and sideline. Overall, Will Levis' impressive showing at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine demonstrates his potential as a successful NFL quarterback and positions him as a strong prospect for any team in need of a dynamic and versatile player at the position.

Combine Losers

Dorian Thompson-Robinson

Unfortunately, the UCLA Bruins quarterback had a difficult showing at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine. Measuring at 6'0" and 200 pounds, his size was a concern for scouts and analysts, and his performance during the combine did not do much to alleviate those concerns. Thompson-Robinson struggled with accuracy during throwing drills, and his decision-making was also questioned, as he threw multiple interceptions during the session. His lone bright spot was his athletic performance with his 40-yard dash time of 4.56 seconds and 10 foot-1 long broad jump. This wasn't enough to make up for his terrible throwing performance. Thompson-Robinson's performance at the combine has hurt his draft stock, with some analysts projecting him as a late-round pick or even an undrafted free agent. While he has shown promise during his time at UCLA, his struggles at the combine have raised doubts about his ability to perform at the next level. However, Thompson-Robinson has stated his intention to improve his skills and prove himself during UCLA's pro day, indicating a willingness to learn and grow as a player. Overall, Dorian Thompson-Robinson's performance at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine was disappointing, and he will need to put in significant work to improve his draft stock and prove himself as a potential NFL quarterback.

Tanner Mckee

At the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, Tanner McKee struggled to showcase his skills and potential as an NFL quarterback. During the throwing drills, he struggled with accuracy and consistency, often missing his targets or throwing behind them. McKee's performance at the combine has hurt his draft stock, with some analysts projecting him as a late-round pick or even an undrafted free agent. While he has shown flashes of potential during his time at Stanford, his struggles at the combine have raised doubts about his ability to perform at the next level. However, McKee has stated his intention to continue working on his skills and improving his game, indicating a dedication to his craft and a willingness to learn and grow as a player. Overall, Tanner McKee's performance at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine wasn't great, and he will need to put in significant work to improve his draft stock and prove himself as a potential NFL quarterback.
