Final Destinations for Two of the NFL's biggest question marks

Updated: May 25, 2022

The day March 8 2022 will go down in NFL history as one of the craziest days ever. Big news for two of the NFL's most controversial quarterbacks.

This mornings craziness kicked off with a huge contract for the 38 year old Aaron Rodgers. After a lot of back and fourth between Rodgers and the organization regarding his return they decided to give him a four-year $200M extension. At this point the Packers have fully given into to Rodgers and he has gotten what he's wanted. Within these fours years he owes them a Super Bowl and it is Super Bowl or bust for Rodgers and the Packers. Although Rodgers is for sure on the older side he has had great production and is coming of back to back MVP's. Although he is coming off these back to back MVP's his playoff production has been underwhelming for sure. Although he has four MVP's and has made the playoffs 11 times he has only gone to the Super Bowl once. Since that Super Bowl trip 12 years ago he has a playoff record of 7-9. While not all these games have been fully his fault, he has been expected to win lots of these games. A prime example is their only playoff game this year in which the Packers (1 seed) lost to the 49ers (6 seed) 13-10. It's because of games like this that people think Rodgers might not deserve this extension. Now that he got this pay day, the ball is in his court if he wants to shut these narratives up and he needs to go out and bring the Lombardi back to Green Bay.

Closer to noon, the biggest move of likely the entire offseason occured. Six time pro bowler and Super Bowl 49 MVP Russell Wilson is headed to the Broncos. It was not cheap, the Broncos gave up 2 first-rounders, 2 second-rounders, a fifth-rounder, Drew Lock, Noah Fant, and Shelby Harris. Although this is a lot, the Broncos still got a good value for Russell Wilson. Before this trade the Broncos are one of the few teams in the NFL that were just a Quarterback away from being contenders. For most teams giving up multiple firsts and seconds would not be worth Wilson because they wouldn't be able to fill out the rest of the roster but for the Broncos it's a different story. By adding Wilson they complete their roster and just have things to polish as opposed to new building units. They have arguably a top five defense as well as having a very solid receiving core and ground game. Honestly the only issue facing the Broncos in 2022 will be the other star power in their division with the Chargers and Chiefs. As far as the Seahawks I think it's fair to say they also did well in this trade. Although Wilson is great their roster was not built to win now and it's better to trade him and get pieces that could build your future instead of wasting Wilson's talent and finishing 8-9. These picks are also crucial because they did not have a first rounder this year due to the Jamal Adams trade. As far as quarterback I don't think Drew Lock will be the long term answer for the Seahawks but if they roll with him this year he could be a solid bridge quarterback if they want to get someone soon. Russell will always be a legend in Seattle but his time has come to and end and now Denver will "Let Russ Cook".
