Warriors Win the West... Again, but Steph has some Unfinished Business

Updated: Aug 21, 2023

Warriors are back like they never left and practically have been spotless in this last decade of the NBA but Steph still hasn't won a Finals MVP.

For the 6th time in the last 8 years, the Warriors are headed to the NBA Finals. If that isn't crazy enough, every year that Klay Thompson has been healthy since 2015 they have made the finals. Even after replacing Kevin Durant with Andrew Wiggins they are still perfectly fine and are likely favored to win the championship. It is fair to say that the Golden State Warriors are currently the best franchise in North American sports. The one issue has been Steph Curry not getting enough postseason credit. It's really ashamed that he did not win the Finals MVP in 2015 because his lack of Finals MVPs is the main flaw in his career. Thankfully the NBA has issued a new award for the best player in each Conference finals. For the West, it's the Magic Johnson award and for the East, it's Larry Bird. Steph won the first Magic Johnson award and this is his first individual postseason award which hopefully can help his resume going forward. Going into these finals Steph is the favorite to win the Finals MVP but Jordan Poole can very well ball out and steal it from him which would really suck for Curry's resume. While many people say that it doesn't matter because of how great he is everyone truly knows that it's the last piece to complete his resume. The best sports comparison would have to be last year before Messi won his first international trophy. Everyone agreed Messi was great, but everyone knew he had one major hole in his resume. So now for Steph Curry, these Finals will be his chance to fill the hole in his resume and win his first Finals MVP. If he does get it done and he wins the 2022 NBA Finals MVP, he will officially be the greatest point guard of all time.
